This article shares our process for developing an improved API synthesis of raltegravir. Through this process, the team isolated a new process intermediate and develop conditions to solve the selectivity issue typical of this production process, with no need for the use of protecting groups, making this route more efficient and sustainable than what has been previously reported. By completing efficiency comparisons with the previous processes, we were able to confirm the result as well.
